RE: CalNevOre 3 - Moon Rocks (Reno) - Memorial Day Weekend

Ok, so there was a little snow this morning, not enough to do anything, really. The packing has started at our place hopefully we will be out before dark tomorrow. The DW can't wait to get out and the kids are ready to go. See everyone when we get in.

RE: CalNevOre 3 - Moon Rocks (Reno) - Memorial Day Weekend

Ok, I think we are finally in. The DW cancelled our original plan and said this is the trip. Not sure what all is on the agenda need to get caught up on some reading but we will be out sometime on Friday. Looking forward to a great weekend.

RE: Kids and riding gear (mainly boots)

I agree the high top boots should be fine but I would recommend looking for some regular riding boots. We have been able to buy my daughters boots a size or 2 big and she has made it a whole riding season on 1 pair. Look around for used ones or the clearance boots on any of the websites. I know her boots have definitely made a difference on more than one occassion.

RE: Glamis Dunes..........first time

I agree, that time of year the only dunes I would be visiting are on the coast. I know the Oregon Dunes are in your backyard but there or Pismo would be my choices.

RE: Help - Camping at Coos Bay

Thanks for the info on Riley Ranch. Right now, we're planning on being there June 14 thru June 18. Some friends are staying at the KOA, but we may end up at Horsfall. I like the dune access there.

Help - Camping at Coos Bay

Need some advice on campspots. We have some friends who we found out are headed to Oregon in June. We think the dates will work for us also. They already have reservations at the KOA and we tried online last night but couldn't book anything. The DW is going to try to call today to see if there is anything available but if not we are going to try to look elsewhere. We looked at Spinreel and Horsfall as our other options to still be in the area and allow for rides and get togethers. Specifically which campground do any of you recommend and if you don't mind telling which spots you have stayed in. Thanks for the help.

RE: Mileage

GMC 2500 Duramax pulling Warrior LE3105, I average about 9 - 10 mpg. I get about 16 - 17 without trailer.

RE: Recommendations for Manual Slider Hitch

I have the Husky 24k and am very happy. I haven't had to use it more than a couple of times and have put the trailer into some pretty tight spots without using the slide, just have to pay attention.

RE: New TV, no more Titan

So when the kids are watching the parade tomorrow where should we be watching for you at???? The DW thinks that is the coolest that you are that close. She would love to take the kids to something like that some time. Looks like too much fun. :B

RE: New quad for the wife....

I think you're right, you can't go wrong with any of the 400's. I love my Honda 400ex. It is still bone stock and runs all over the sand and does the trails great and cruises with the kids just fine. I'm about her age and would say I probably ride middle of the pack or better. The only question is will she be comfortable with a regular clutch vs the automatic clutch they have on the Suzuki 250. Good Luck shopping and lucky lady if this ends up as part of her Christmas. Denise

RE: Jayco Recon F37U -- Truck OPTIONS... Please help

I think that is alot of trailer for that truck. I checked Trailer Life and went to the tow ratings. The file only went back to 1999 but I looked at the 2000 ratings and it looks like similiar truck is rated for somewhere between 11,000 - 13,000 lbs max for a 5th wheel. Good luck in your research.

RE: St. Anthony Dunes

Great choice for a trip. We had an awesome time on our trip and are thinking about going back this year. We found Duneratt's website great and also did some research on Duneguide. Both sites have links to campgrounds and other area info. Have a great time. I would check the weather closely. March might still be pretty cold and snowy.

RE: Confused 2WD vs 4WD

I wouldn't go offroad especially in the sand without 4wd. Worth it everytime.
